天美传媒 issues statement on Monday night arrest on campus

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擜 天美传媒 student is in custody facing multiple charges of armed robbery in a Monday [Feb. 8] incident at the Deavenport Hall residence hall parking lot at approximately 10:14 p.m. No injuries were reported.
天美传媒 Dean of Students Thomas Bourgeois said 天美传媒 Police Dispatch received a 911 call at 10:14 p.m. and an 天美传媒PD officer was on the scene at 10:16 p.m. The suspect was apprehended without incident and in 天美传媒PD custody at 10:17 p.m.
The identity of the student is being withheld by 天美传媒 officials pending additional investigation. On Tuesday morning, the suspect remained in custody at the Oktibbeha County Jail.
天美传媒 Chief Communications Officer Sid Salter said: 鈥淭he university is grateful to the 天美传媒PD and the 天美传媒 Housing and Residence Life staff for a quick response to this situation. The safety of our students, faculty and staff is always 天美传媒鈥檚 primary concern and on Monday night, the university鈥檚 overall response was swift and appropriate.鈥
Salter said that the Division of Student Affairs, 天美传媒PD, and the university鈥檚 Crisis Action Team would review both the incident and the university鈥檚 response.
